EARLY PACKET PICKUP AND FREE CARBO LOAD DINNER FRIDAY AUGUST 3rd from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Avoid the race morning crowd to pickup your race numbers, t-shirt, swim cap and timing chip and enjoy a carbo load dinner – free of charge to all participants! (small fee for friends & family attending). Course talks will also be taking place at 6:00 pm, 6:45 pm, and 7:30 pm. While this pickup is not mandatory, we highly recommend it. The only other opportunity to receive your race materials is race morning, prior to entering the transition area.

NOTE: You may pickup for family and friends with their permission. Bring a copy of their ID, download the event waiver, and bring this signed waiver with you to pick up their packet. There are no exceptions – no waiver, no pickup.

DIRECTIONS TO PACKET PICKUP – JUST INSIDE THE MAIN GATE OF CAMP PENDLETON:
South Mesa Club, 202850 San Jacinto Rd., Camp Pendleton. I-5 North to Camp Pendleton exit or I-5 South to Harbor Drive exit. Enter the Camp Pendleton main gate. Once on base, make your first right at Wire Mountain Road. Make a left on San Jacinto Road and the club will be on your left.

COURSE: The venue area will be at ACU-5, Home of the Swift Intruders. The 500-yard swim is in ocean off of ACU-5, Camp Pendleton. The average water temperature for the event is 68 degrees. We advise wearing wetsuits. The out & back 30K bike ride leaves ACU-5, follows Stuart Mesa Rd. north, and continue east to a turnaround point on Las Pulgas Rd – moderate hills throughout. THE BIKE PORTION IS NOT A CLOSED COURSE. YOU WILL BE SHARING THE ROAD WITH CARS – PLEASE RIDE SAFELY. The 5K Run will be a loop course through ACU-5. This run is flat and fast with a few easy inclines. Aid stations: at the transition, at the bike turnaround & every mile on the run. Please note: there is a 2 hour 45 minute time limit on the completion of the course.

PLEASE NOTE: Sprint Triathlon participants cannot visit ACU-5 to preview the swim course, run course or venue area prior to race day because it is a Training Facility.

SCHEDULE: Triathlon race starts at 7:30 am – you will be going off in 5-minute waves based on age and division. Registration and the transition area open at 6:00 am on race morning. You must have your race materials before entering the transition area. Transition area closes for all participants at 7:20 am. Transition racking will be by wave. Free Kids 1K Fun Run starts at 10:45am, and takes place around the venue area. Finisher medals to all in the 1K non-timed event. T-shirt pickup will be after the event.

ENTRY FEES: CIVILIANS: $65 on or before July 27th, $75 after July 27th. ACTIVE-DUTY MILITARY (not stationed at Camp Pendleton): $55. MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO: MCCS Fund 0140. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. FREE Kids 1K Fun Run for kids 14 & under.

DEADLINES: Mail-in deadline – July 27th (or until sold out), online registration deadline – August 1st (or until sold out). Limited to the 1st 1,300 entrants – we expect this race to sell out– register early!

RULES: Wetsuits optional (but advised) and helmets are required. USAT rules will apply – no drafting. Minimum age for participating is 13 years old. We’re sorry, but headphones and ear buds are prohibited during the event (base rules). Events are held rain or shine. Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. Liability waiver must be signed by all participants on race morning.

TRANSITION AREA: The transition area is assigned racking by waves. Transition area opens at 6:00 am. There is no riding in the transition area or over the transponder mats.

DIRECTIONS: From I-5, exit Camp Pendleton – Oceanside/Harbor Drive and enter through the main gate. Once on base go straight for a mile and make a left on Stuart Mesa Road and then follow “RACE EVENT” signs to ACU-5. Bring a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and vehicle registration. Allow 30 minutes from the base gate to the race site. When aboard the base, please follow all posted speed limits.

CATEGORIES: Military and Civilian Divisions offer categories for Age Group, Clydesdale (male 200 lbs.+), Athena (female 160 lbs.+), Mountain Bike (no age group), and Challenged Athlete. Age groups are 13-19, (18-24 military), 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, (50+ military), 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80+.

 

RESULTS, AWARDS, POINTS & PHOTOS: 11:15 am awards ceremony for the top 3 overall males and females. Awards pickup for age group winners will take place throughout the morning. Awards given to the top 3 overall finishers as well as to the top 3 in each division. Points for the 2012 MARSOC Hard Corps® Race Series awarded to the top 10 overall males and females in both military and civilian categories. For Camp Pendleton active-duty, points go towards the Pendleton Cup. Results also posted at 3:00 pm on race day; photos posted the week following the event at www.brightroom.com.
